The goal of the Transition Services program is to allow individuals to explore various occupational areas and gain general work-related skills valuable in any environment, while meeting the requirements of his/her Individual Education Plan. The concept of “real work” is presented in a work adjustment environment designed to be flexible with the needs and limitations of each participant. The ultimate goal is to provide the individuals with appropriate transitional training and job placement assistance designed to meet individual needs and interests.
All participants must be a student in Knox County Schools or at Tennessee School for the Deaf, be at least sixteen years of age and have a reasonable expectation of being successful in the program. Most often, individuals in either program are in their junior or senior years of high school and are preparing to graduate and enter the workforce. This program is ideal for individuals working toward an occupational skills diploma.
